Sometime in the early 90’s, Mr. Sawdust had planned to release a wonderful handcrafted collection of furniture blueprints, complete with his tips, anecdotes, and beautiful full-scale templates. Until now, these have never seen the light of day. We’ve taken time to digitize everything and we’re getting everything in order — soon making it available here for the first time. For now, this page is just to introduce you to what Wally had in mind, and share a few pages. Check back soon and we’ll have the complete set of plans available!

There’s not only a real pleasure in building authentic-design furniture but it lets you build a quality that most people can’t afford. A single piece in each room sets the tone for your entire home (and makes all your other furniture look good, too!). It makes no difference the style of your house. It doesn’t have to be an “original Salt Box circa 1750” for you to enjoy the pure luxury and satisfaction of Early Country Furniture.

Even a small apartment can become a special world. Home is what you make it. Right? Then make it right! (A couple nice pieces a year.)

I have done my best to make these drawings as accurate and authentic as possible. After 40 years as a furniture-maker, these are my choices of the most interesting pieces I’ve ever built. We’ve lived with most of them in our home for a long time.

For certain, these are not one-evening projects. Neither are they difficult. Add one or two to your home each year and, before you know it, you’ll have accomplished what money can’t buy: The comfort and atmosphere that only Early Country Furniture can create. Plus, you had a good time doing it!
